Here we list things you need to know about preparing, packing, and moving your furniture. 1] Labelling your boxes and making inventories of the contents Create a list/inventory of the main items you are placing in to your boxes, give each box a number and clearly write the number on two sides and the top of the box. Also write on the destination room for the box, when the removers unload the van, the box will be placed in the room written on it. You can then unpack your boxes based on importance and box number. 2] How to pack your boxes safely Please don't over fill your boxes. Our removers are strong, but we're not body builders. Over filled boxes are likely to collapse under the strain and pose a health and safety risk to our staff. It's also just as important not to under fill your boxes. Your boxes should be filled to the top, this keeps the shape of the box when boxes are stacked, it also helps distribute the weight to the correct parts of the box. 3] Packing glassware and china When packing any glassware, make sure you insert packing paper in to the glass/cup/vase and then wrap the outer parts too. Don't use newspaper as this leaves print all over your glassware meaning it will all need cleaning. 4] Mark your rooms Consider using a number or colour scheme for the removal men. place coloured stickers on or near doors and then place the same stickers on all items/boxes for that room. Then when the removers start unloading, they can follow your colour scheme and get all the right stuff in the right rooms. 5] When to start packing We suggest you should start packing two to three weeks in advance of your removal date. This will give you plenty of time to pack your boxes properly whilst still having time for normal life. 6] What not to pack Don't pack anything you consider important or essential until the last minute. You could need your passport or driving license at any time. Also keep out any financial documents or house related documents. All medium sized plus Removal Companies offer a packing service of some kind. At Bellwoods Removals we offer a professional personal packing service by our trained staff. We've been packing personal belongings for over 30 years now and are often complemented on how thorough and secure items are packed. A full packing service means that we would come in to your house just as you live in it, put aside any items you will need throughout the day and possibly over night and then pack up the whole of the remaining items including cupboard contents, glass cabinets, kitchen cabinets, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, magazine racks etc. Our staff are extremely trustworthy, we are able to pack your valuables, which will be noted during packing and written notes will be made on the box they are packed in. Please contact us if you require this service, we would normally call out to view your belongings before being able to give you an estimated cost for the packing service. Partial Packing Service. Some people only need a hand with the delicate items or hard to pack items, which is usually the kitchen cupboards and any glass cabinets or display units. We are more than happy to just pack delicate items for you, in most cases we would call out to see you and ask you to show us just what you need packing, we would then be able to give you an estimated of cost for the packing service.
